Uric acid is a chemical present in blood and is often produced in body naturally and others come from food and beverage items called Purines. Body converts purines in form of acid. Too much presence of it in the body causes disease called Gout or Kidney stones.

What often Causes Uric Acid

The most common cause of high uric acid is that most uric acid drain out from body when you pee but another one sticks and does not remove from body and cause problems. Thus presence of high uric acid is called Hyperuricemia. Various factors are responsible for high  acid. These are:

  • Genetic
  • Excess of alcohol consumption
  • Overweight
  • High Blood sugar level or Diabetes
  • Taking water pills
  • Foods containing purines
  • Seafood (Ex:fish)

When you visit a doctor depending on the symptoms, doctor will prescribe you a blood test to verify that you have high acid or not. Before taking a uric acid test keep in mind some points:

  1. Don’t eat or drink for 4 hours before the test is performed.
  2. It is better if you perform test in morning without eating anything.
  3. Don’t take any medicine without doctor’s permission.

If you have high acid, then take food items with low purine. If it is not effective then consult your doctor.
