1. Avoid Smoking

The more alcohol you drink, the more chances are to develop breast cancer. Research showed that the regularly drinking alcohol beverages, such as wine, beer and liquor are associated with higher risks of developing breast cancer in women. 

While moderate drinking can be healthy for heart at older age, but low level of intake can increase the chances of breast cancer. 

3. Keep Weight under Control

Being overweight or obese can increase the chances of breast cancer. This can be true if obesity or excessive weight occurs after menopause.

4. Maintain a Healthy Diet

It is very important to eat healthy diet to lower the risks of breast cancer. Try to include fruits and green vegetables once in a day in your meal.

5. Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding plays a major role in prevention of breast cancer. The more you breastfeed, the benefit will be greater for mother and child.

7. Limit Dose and Duration of Hormone Therapy

If you are taking hormone therapy for three to five years, it can increase the chances of breast cancer. You can manage your post menopausal symptoms with other therapies or medications by consulting your doctor. 

If it is necessary to take hormone therapy, limit the dose that is good for you and ask your doctor to monitor the duration of time while you are taking therapy.

8. Avoid Exposure to Radiation

Medical imaging method uses high dosage of radiation. A study indicates an association between breast cancer and radiation. Avoid unnecessary exposure to radiations by having such tests until it is necessary.

9. Avoid Birth Control Pills

Women are on higher risks of breast cancer if they are taking birth control pills. The risks of heart attack and stroke also increased if women are taking the pills. If you are concerned about developing breast cancer, avoiding birth control pills can be one option to lower risk.
